East Anglian, dancefloor-packing band of professional, experienced ceilidh musicians. We play English, Irish and Scottish traditional music for weddings, parties and festivals including Cambridge Folk Festival, Towersey, Sidmouth, FolkEast, Snape Maltings Dome Stage and the Aldeburgh Festival. We don't use a 'pool' of musicians as many other ceilidh bands do and we always use non-gendered calling.
Stumpy Oak boasts an unusually large sound. Fiery fiddle, accordion and guitar are complimented by guitar sub-octaves (giving a bass guitar sound) and a stompbox (like a bass drum). Options for further instruments include a bodhran and second fiddle. Lighting is included with every booking, adding to the atmosphere. A friendly, patient caller completes the line-up to talk guests through the dance moves prior to/during each dance so that everyone knows what to do and can have fun.

"Thank you for all the wonderful music at our wedding… We LOVED the band and the disco music. EVERYONE loved you all. It was a big surprise for my parents, and I shall never forget the expression on my Dad’s face when I came off the dance floor after the first ceilidh dance. He was beaming from ear to ear with the biggest smile…!"
