“Dear Barry, Erin, Sarah and Darren,
I just wanted to say a HUGE thank you for playing for us on Saturday evening. You were so fantastic – so many people have asked me where we found you/how to get in touch with you! Those who have been to ceilidhs before also commented on how you’re the best band they’ve heard and had (which I too agree with!).. I really really did appreciate your help and for just generally being absolutely fab and getting everyone involved & having a great time.

I’m also sorry about my questionable dance moves toward the end…(or throughout the whole night some might say!!!). Oops…

Again, the biggest thank you from me and on behalf of everyone who came. You made it a blast.”

“John and I would like to thank you and Stumpy Oak so so much for making our party last night so enjoyable. The music was amazing and so infectious, every able-bodied person was up dancing for most of the night, and we hadn’t anticipated that!

You made the stage look brilliant with the lighting and your costumes and instruments, and the quality of the sound was fantastic. Your caller (I think that was Sarah) was really good, she was clear and easy to understand which made the dancing even more enjoyable. We also really appreciated the music you played while we were eating, which got us in the party mood straight away, and that you were flexible when dinner overran and needed to make a delayed start.

Please pass on our thanks to all the band, you were a big hit with not just us but all our guests, we’ve received lots of lovely comments about the band. I wouldn’t hesitate to recommend Stumpy Oak, or to book you again, if we ever have enough energy to have another party!! All the very best.”
Jan & John, 60th birthday in Suffolk (January 2019)

“Thank you to all of you for making our wedding reception one to remember. Everyone raved at how brilliant the band was and the enthusiasm you all had whilst playing. I thoroughly enjoyed the dancing, trying not to be hindered by the large dress! My mum said Queen Victoria loved a ceilidh and I take my hat off to anyone who can maintain decorum dancing those moves in layers of petticoats. We would love to join you at any future public events and hopefully we will make it look more like dancing and less like a rugby scrum! Once again thank you for a wonderful time. Many thanks and best wishes.”
Gemma & Chris, wedding in Colchester (December 2018)

We’re back in the North and resting up after a wonderful and very busy few days! Sorry about Uncle Bill – he was a liability but had a lot of fun! Thank you all so much for playing at our wedding. We went to the wedding of friends in April 2013 where I hardly knew anyone. They had a ceilidh in the evening and I had a great time because everyone danced with everyone else and it was very social. I decided then that if Tom and I got married then a ceilidh would be the perfect evening dance, and on Wednesday you made it happen! You are an absolutely fantastic band, and all of our guests absolutely loved the ceilidh. Many of them commented that you were the best ceilidh band that they had been to, and we certainly agree! It was the best way to end a wonderful day.”

Michael, 40th birthday party (January 2016)

“You really made our party go with a swing and we’ve had lots of feedback about how much fun it was – we now have several more ceilidh fans. I hope you enjoyed it and weren’t too disappointed at our lack of knowing our lefts from our rights and how to form a square! We’ll certainly be recommending you to others – thanks again.”
Jane, Aldeburgh Music, Snape Maltings Concert Hall (December 2015)

“Thank you so much for last night – every single person had an amazing time! It really was a memorable evening.”
Olivia, wedding reception (November 2015)

“It was great – everyone is raving about it!”
Sam, public ceilidh (November 2015)

“Thank you!! You were awesome and just what we were after. Everyone really enjoyed it and it was so good for getting everyone up and dancing. You were brilliant and thank you!”
Charlotte & Lee, wedding (September 2015)

“Just wanted to say a huge thank you to Stumpy Oak for making our wedding evening so special – everyone we spoke to absolutely loved the music and dancing and you made sure that everyone could get involved. The caller was so clear and easy to understand, even for our guests who spoke little English.”
Rebecca & Hamish, wedding (May 2015)
